ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS

24 Hour Hotline (210) 828-6235 | 24 Hour Hotline-Spanish (210) 409-8524

Alcoholics Anonymous ® is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. AA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

What is this Alcoholics Anonymous website?

Great Question! Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of men and women who have had a drinking problem. It is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. There are no age or education requirements. Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about his or her drinking problem.

The Alcoholics Anonymous headquarters (referred to as the General Service Office or G.S.O) is located in New York, New York. Since AA is is now all over the world, there are multiple central/intergroup offices throughout the world.

The role of a central/intergroup office is to carry out certain functions common to all the groups — functions which are best handled by a centralized office — and it is usually maintained, supervised, and supported by these groups in their general interest. It exists to aid the groups in their common purpose of carrying the A.A. message to the alcoholic who still suffers.

This website is run by the San Antonio Central Service Office!

San Antonio’s Central Service Office

As you can see above, this website is “run” by the San Antonio Central Service Office. So, yes, the San Antonio Central Service Office is a physical location where people can visit.

Here in San Antonio, in conjunction with the Central Service Office, we also have a Bookstore! The bookstore sells AA-related literature, chips, and other fun gifts and material that can be used to help assist an individual in recovery.

You can shop the Bookstore online and/or in person!
